FALL COMPETITIVE ROWING
Fall competitive rowing is administered by Community Volunteer Coaches with the Kingston Rowing Club. F
Training takes place at the KRC in the morning at 5:45am on weekdays and 7:00am on weekends from September until November and culminates with racing at the Head of the Fish.
Further Strength and Conditioning workouts will be added depending on crew schedules.
This program is being run as a performance pathway open to all LDSB athletes looking to pursue higher performance rowing at the senior level in high school and beyond within the Rowing Canada development pathway.

Rowers will be expected to row 4 times a week in the morning and once on the weekend and participate in additional workouts or conditioning such as participation in school XC running teams.
Race for the season will be The Head of the Fish is the last weekend of October (usually). Further races may be added for exceptional circumstances and performance in training and meeting speed standards.
Training will take place in eights and fours or quads unless exceptional rowers have been identified and meet high levels of rowing proficiency and performance.
Novice rowers (NEW) or recreational rowers will be coached and developed at the Kingston Rowing Club through the Fall Rowing Program. More information can be found at the kingston rowing club web site:

TRYOUTS:
Tryouts will take place during the mornings in the first weeks of September at 5:45-7:30am at the KRC. Bring running shoes and water bottle and dress for the weather as well as bring shorts for erg sessions.
Selection criteria for crews is based on the following indicators in no particular order and is not limited to:
Crews will be determined based on events at the HoF with the goal of producing as many top placing finishes as possible. a maximum of two events will be raced by athletes on once day at the HoF.
COST is determined by the KRC plus the cost of transportation, entry fees and hotel at the Head of the Fish. This will be determined by the number of athletes in the program and the transportation method for the regatta.
***If you rowed in the spring and summer, you may have reached your maximum fee with the KRC, so please make this identification when you signup.

- Ergometer 2000m time and/or 6000m time
- Testing of physical fitness (wall sits, push-ups, sit-ups, squat jumps, running, Beep Test etc.)
- On water ability and technique
- Coachability and improvement through tryouts
- Attitude and commitment
- Seat racing results on water (mostly used to determine small boat line-ups)
